Formed in 1995 and inspired by the legendary Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, we have earned a reputation for musical excellence, performing across the UK and Europe, including a historic performance as the first British brass ensemble at the Concertgebouw Concert Hall in Amsterdam. Principal Conductor

Lewis Bettles

Lewis has appeared internationally with leading orchestras including The Hallé, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Manchester Camerata, and the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie. Career highlights include performances at the Musikverein, Vienna with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and at the BBC Proms in Japan with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He can also be heard on major film and video-game soundtracks such as The Woman King, The Mother, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Wars: Outlaws.

Alongside his work as a performer, Lewis is an active conductor, having worked with Irvine & Dreghorn Brass, Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass, Hade Edge Band, and Stannington Brass Band.

In addition to his performance and conducting career, Lewis is Talent Development Manager at Opera North, where he oversees the planning and delivery of the company’s youth programmes, including its youth orchestra and youth choirs.
